You can tell when it’s not an election year: The LA Times is critical of an elected official for not being tough enough on crime

This is an exceptional and ironic article regarding the Los Angeles District Attorney’s policy of not being tough enough on prosecuting 3-Strikes cases.

Sources have said Cooley adopted this policy in an effort to gain the support and endorsement of the Times in his run for elected office.

Now that very paper is bashing his use of the policy – soft on crime – that the Times has historically supported.

Maybe it’s LA’s disproportionate rise in violent crime by parolees and gangs that is literally driving up the entire statewide crime stats that may have started them thinking – the greatest cause of crime is criminals and the greatest source of criminals is our prison system.
